The pharaohound has a red-brown coloured coat which is short and shiny. Any white markings on the chest and/or on the middle of the head are allowed. A white tip at the end of the long lean tail desirable though not necessary.

The head is long and narrow with natural prick ears that are medium high set and upright when the dog is alert. The ears are big and wide at the bottom. The foreface is slightly longer than the skull. The eyes of a faraohound are oval-shaped, amber-coloured and the eyes should not be too deep in the sockets.

His neck is long and slightly arched. The pharaohound has well angled quarters and his legs should be paralell. The body is flexible with an almost stright backline and he has got good welfed ribs. The pelvis is slightly more angled than normal.

The pharaohound has got powerful muscular backhand and glyding elegant moves in which the head is high caried. The tail, which is average of length, is reaching to the hock and is carried up and curved when the dog is moving.
